OUR MISSION

At the heart of our mission is the democratization of advanced manufacturing technologies through MIT’s renowned learning systems and open-source software. With access to these resources, FAB 845 will empower individuals from all walks of life—students, entrepreneurs, artists, and innovators—to turn their ideas into reality. Through hands-on training in digital fabrication, including 3D printing, CNC machining, and electronics prototyping, community members will gain the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.

WHAT IS A FAB LAB?

A Fab Lab consists of off-the-shelf, industrial grade fabrication and an integrated learning center with open source software and programs developed by researchers at MIT’s Center for Bits & AtomsOriginally designed as prototyping platforms for local entrepreneurship, Fab Labs have been increasingly adopted by schools and local communities for project based, hands-on STEM education, community innovation and as unique fabrication centers for creators or makers in design and science based programs. Users learn by designing and creating objects of personal interest or importance, fostering creativity, problem solving, and collaboration.

A community driven fabrication lab, FAB 845 will provide immersive training in digital fabricationCNC machining3D printing, and electronics prototyping. This state-of-the-art facility will equip students, entrepreneurs, and artisans with the skills and resources needed to transform ideas into tangible creations. Programs will include after school STEM campsworkforce development initiatives, and vocational training to prepare participants for in demand careers and fueling new creative ventures in the Hudson Valley. Local artists, engineers, and designers will also have access to affordable prototyping tools, enabling them to develop new products, art installations, and innovations that bridge traditional craftsmanship with emerging technology.

GET FAB IN HUDSON VALLEY

FAB 845 will be a transformative force, bringing together Hudson Valley’s creative energy to build a future driven by technology, education, and collaboration. But FAB 845 is about more than machines, it’s about people. By fostering a culture of inclusivity, experimentation, and shared knowledge, the Fab Lab will empower individuals to push boundaries and unlock new possibilities.
